Students of class-1 learnt division with and without left over/ remainder through the activity of equal sharing of cookies. For 21÷4, four students counted 21 cookies and then disturbed them amongst themselves equally. The number of cookies each student got was the answer and the left over cookies were the remainder.

Activity ' let's go fishing with doubles' was conducted in class-1, students had to pick double the number of fish told to them. Through this activity, they learned doubles of numbers from 1 to 10 in a playful way.

Students of class -2 learnt division with the activity 'find the remainder'. Students were given one number for example 19 and they were told to divide it with another number, 5. They formed groups with 5 beads in each group. The number of left over beads was the remainder. And the number of groups formed was the answer. S
